New Adventures

A lot of new things lately in my life, exciting new things.  Blessings really.  This is the FIRST Happypotamus I ever made.  He turned out HUGE because I wasn’t really sure what yarn to use for the pattern (Heidi Bears Designs).  Much material went into this guy, and poyfil.  I recently switched up his eyes (because I didn’t care for the simple ones I had previously used).  I have him strategically placed in a little one’s bedroom.  His recipient is one of the newer blessings in my life and I hope she likes this GIANT Happypotamus!  I do like those pearly eyes.

I have a couple new projects I hope to start soon.  One is a crochet cover for an old ottoman, I’m thinking stars.  The other will be a SUPER LONG project.  I bought some fabric squares that I will crochet edges around and fashion together like a granny square afghan.  I’m hoping to making it large enough for our king size bed.  It’ll take my busy fingers a long time!

~Christmas Order #2 Complete~

I think little girls really like the colors pink, purple, and yellow.  I’ve made many Happypotamuses with that color scheme.

My “bumblebee” themed Happypotamus was completed last night and I hope the girls they are going to, will like them.  🙂

If anyone has other cute ideas besides a tutu as an accessory.  I’d love to hear it!  The tutus are lovely, but not everyone’s thing!  I don’t like the idea of anything hanging around the neck because I think it’s too difficult to see.  Like a neck tie would be adorbs, but not very visible…

For motivation to complete my next Happypotamuses, I am reflecting on Happypotmuses of the past.  A few of my favorites.  A shout out: Happypotamus is a Heidi Bears pattern.  It can purchased at: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/happypotamus-the-happy-hippo-crochet-pattern

I finished the last of the Happypotamuses for my cousin’s little girls while in Minnesota.  When I got home the other night, all I had left to do was stuff it, add the eyes, and make the tutu.  The finishing touches are always fun for me.  It is like something comes to life when you start adding the details.

I do love Happypotamus.  But for me, the Happypotamus projects will be taking their own vacation for awhile.  I’ve had my fill.

Remember, Happypotamus is a Heidi Bears design.  Here’s the link to her pattern:

She has several other patterns that are AWESOME as well.  🙂

Another Happypotamus… Another busy weekend.

I had a very busy weekend… along with a house guest.  Somehow, I managed to finish up the first of a trilogy of Happypotamus.  They are going to three little girls in Hadar, Nebraska… Greenley, Piper, and Emerson.  One down, two more to go.  This was my first experience in making my own tutu.  It was really quite simple, just a piece of elastic and lots of tulle and ribbon.

Happypotamus is a Heidi Bears Design.  I simplify mine a little.  It’s an amazing pattern and she has several other INCREDIBLE patterns with the African flower motif.
